Khlong Lan National Park
Waterfalls are main attraction of Khlong Lan, which is the last forest
complex in the Kamphaeng Phet province.
History
Created on December 25, 1982 as the 44th national park of Thailand.
Geography and Climate
The park is rugged and hilly, and
is covered by fertile forest. Each mountain connects to Khun Khlong Lan, with
1439 meters the highest peak of the park. It is also a watershed for many
fields of Ping river. The weather is pleasant all year round.
Flora and Fauna
Teak and bamboo are the dominant tree species. Common wildlife include
sambar deer, barking deer, wild pig, macaque, squirrel and many species of
birds.
What to See
Khlong Lan Waterfall - close to the park headquarters this 95-meter
high waterfall is the most scenic of the park waterfalls. The water begins
its flow from the Khlong Lan canal in Khlong Suan Mak mountain range.
The five mountain creeks eventually merge and fall over the limestone cliff.
At the base of the fall, the water is collected in a large pool before
dropping another 100 meters. During the warm season, swimming in
this pool is a a great way of cooling down.
Klong Nam Lai Waterfall - located 25 kilometers from the park headquarters, it
has 9 levels, each with its own pool.
Kaeng Ko Roi - located on Um Phang - Khlong Lan road, at Ban Pong Ron
along the road . The rapid is formed by Khlong Suan Mak,
which comprises stream, prominence and beach; surrounded by valleys.
Klong Suan Mak - a creek suitable for rafting and canoeing
